Hello!
Welcome to the Brain-Body Health Technology Institute, LLC of Western New York. My name is Dr. Kathy Calabrese, creator and CEO of BBHT. I hope the information you find here will support and encourage you as you search for a way to feel better, but before you begin to explore what we have to offer, let me tell you about myself.
Buffalo, New York is my hometown. Born and raised in North Buffalo, I am a proud alum of Bennett High School, D’Youville College, and Buffalo State College where I earned a Masters degree in Special Education. In 1984, while working as an Associate professor of Special Education at D’Youville College, I completed my PhD in Counseling/Educational Psychology at SUNY Buffalo.
During my time at UB, I became very interested in knowing more about Family Systems theory, so I enrolled in a post-doctoral program at the University of Rochester Medical School, Dept. of Psychiatry. I completed my clinical training as a Marriage and Family therapist, and opened my private practice in Williamsville in 1985. Since that time, I have maintained a private practice as a NYS Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in Buffalo, New York City, Kingston, New York and Phoenicia, a small hamlet in the Catskills.
In 2007, while living in the Catskills, I had the good fortune to encounter Dr. Stephen Larsen, who had recently published a book, The Healing Power of Neurofeedback. Once again, I was hooked and determined to learn more about this incredible technology so that I could offer my clients a non-pharmaceutical way to feel better. The field of Neurofeedback is dynamic and ever-changing so since 2007 til now, I continue to study and improve my clinical skills. I am very pleased to say that I have achieved certification from the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance as a Neurofeedback clinician and Mentor.
When I decided that it was time to return to my hometown, I once again established a private practice, but decided that it was time to introduce Buffalo, New York to Neurofeedback, and all its potential, in a more comprehensive way. After completing the year long Women and Minorities business development program through UB’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, I created the Brain-Body Health Technology Institute, LLC. BBHT is my legacy to my hometown.
It is my deepest desire to partner with you as you travel From Here to Better.
